Louisiana Strawberry

Louisana is the state of honor this week. Louisiana was part of the Louisiana purchase in 1803 from France.  Louisiana has a long history with the first settlement formed in 1699. Known for its Cajun food, Louisiana is the only state with a  large population of Cajuns, descendants of the Le Acadiens who were driven out of Canada in the 1755 because they wouldn't pledge allegiance to the British Crown (see Le Grand Dérangement).  The state fruit of Louisiana is the Strawberry and this cupcake is based on the fruit.  A strawberry cupcake is filled with baked strawberries (brings out a wonderful strawberry flavor!) and topped with a chocolate buttercream adorned with a chocolate dipped strawberry.  A cupcake a day brings sweet bliss your way.
