Michigan Cherry

The state of honor this week is Michigan.  Michigan has the longest freshwater coast and it is said that in Michigan you are never more than 6 miles from a natural water source and never more than 85 miles from a lake.  Michigan is surrounded by the Great Lakes - Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake St Clair.  The National Cherry Festival is held each year in Traverse City Michigan and this year it is July 7-14, 2012.   This state of often misunderstood and offers tremendous experiences and sights! Michigan produces 75% of the tart cherry crop in the United States.Tart cherries are best for baking and pies.  This almond cupcake is filled with Michigan cherries and topped with a cherry buttercream.  A cupcake a day brings sweet bliss your way.
