Whoppers Candy!
This cupcake is based on the Malted Milk Ball candy that Overland Candy Company introduced called
Giants in 1939. In 1947, Overland merged with Chicago Biscuit Company,
Leaf Gum and Leaf Machinery. Leaf Brands reintroduced malted milk balls
in 1949 under the name of Whoppers and today they are produced by the Hershey Company of Pennsylvania. This 3/4" ball of chocolate deliciousness reminds me of Easter when they make them in egg shapes called Robin Eggs and a favorite in my Easter basket. This cupcake begins with a chocolate cake filled with a chocolate malt ganache and topped with a chocolate ganache buttercream. A cupcake a day brings sweet bliss your way.
